Women’s History Month

With March being Women's History Month and today International Women's Day, CPR salutes all the incredible women from every walk of life who have fought and sacrificed to make this world a better place.

On January 20th, 2021 history was made: Kamala Harris, was sworn in as the first female Vice President of the United States. She also happens to be a person of color. This is a monumental achievement to say the least. But for all the progress that has been made, women in the U.S. still only make $0.81 for every dollar a man earns. In many parts of the world, women are still second-class citizens who don’t have the right to vote, own property or receive an education.

Gender equality is not a sound bite at CPR. We don’t just talk the talk - we walk the walk. Here’s just some of what girls and women mean to us:

  1. Our firm offers generous family leave policies that well exceed the legal requirements. Our equitable workplace balances family, and professional obligations;
  2. Our client engagements include quickly helping:
    1. Secure a $30 million commitment from MacKenzie Scott, that will forever change the lives of underprivileged young women attending Lehman College.
    2. Complete two of the largest, fastest capital campaigns in the history of independent, girls’ day schools: Chapin School, which we helped raised $78 milllion in 2½ years and then we topped that by helping them raise $100 million in 3½ years.

Over the years, CPR has also had the privilege to serve such organizations as Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women , FINCA, Fonkoze, Magdalena House, Safe Horizon, the Women's City Club of New York and the Women's Studio Workshop, to name a few. Each of these organizations is doing their part to aid in the cause of female empowerment and gender equality in society at large.

Much has been accomplished in the fight for women’s rights, but there is still a lot of work to do. The cause of women everywhere must be championed by everyone if we are ever to truly have equality in our nation and in our world.
